Akash Patel, M.D, FSIR

Patel is a board-certified, dual subspeciality fellowship-trained, vascular and interventional radiologist with more than 19 years of extensive experience using minimally invasive technology.
Additionally, the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) have noticed his outstanding contributions, an excellent talent and thus awarded with FSIR (Fellow of society of Interventional Radiology), one of the most prestigious honors granted to a less than <10% Interventional Radiologist in the world. This is based on outstanding credentials, achievements and community contributions to interventional radiology and, those who are elected to Fellowship signal to peers and patients their commitment to quality IR care through the use of the FSIR designation.
Patel has held Chief of interventional radiology appointments at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), which is the only tertiary center for various cancer, organ transplant and highly complex disease management in the state of Mississippi. During his tenured he has trained many junior faculty, fellows, residents and medical students with a mission to improve patient quality of life.
Patel brings structured and organized comprehensive care towards the disease problems that make him unique to serve patient care for the Melbourne area. He has extensively published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international conferences. He also serves on the several Committees of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR).
